BIOGRAPHY

In the year 2000, I graduated from the University of Florence with a doctorate in Viticulture and Oneology and a thesis on the Sangiovese grape. My passion for wine and winemaking pushed me towards many varying professional experiences in a number of different contexts, from the “heroic”, family-run viticulture of the Cinque Terre and the Colli di Luni on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea to important houses with an international approach and philosophy in South Africa and California. In 2002, I joined the Matura Group and began working as a consultant, working side by side with major professionals as Attilio Pagli, Alberto Antonini, and Paolo Caciorgna; work as an independent professional then followed, collaborating with producers in the most important viticultural zones of Tuscany – i.e. Chianti, Montepulciano, and Montalcino – in addition to a series of projects involving the rediscovery of native grape varieties in lesser known wine-producing areas.
