BIOGRAPHY

A summa cum laude graduate from the Agrarian Sciences faculty of the University of Pisa with an doctoral thesis – supervised by Professor Giancarlo Scalabrelli – entitled “Research on Vine Training Systems in the Chianti Classico Production Zone” based on her work on the “Chianti Classico 2000” project.
Post-graduate work in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Turin where she elaborated a summa cum laude thesis, supervised by Professor A. Gandini, on oenological microbiology at the  of Institute for Viticulture and Beverage Technology (the Fachhohschule Fachbereich Weinbau und Getränketechnologie) at Geisenhim in Germany entitled “Physiological and Genetic Stability in Recombinants of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae”.
Member, and enrolled on the official register, of the  professional order of Doctors of Agronomy and Forest Sciences of the province of Grosseto.

Important stages in the career:

Consulting oenologist in the Bolgheri DOC,  Val di Cornia, DOC, Elba DOC,  Montescudaio DOCG , Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC, Toscana IGT, Bardolino DOC and DOCG, Valpolicella DOC, and Soave DOC appellations; in 1998, collaborative work with Paolo Benassi, winemaker at the Banfi estat and, from 20001 to 2008, an independent consulting oenologist with the Matura Group. Assistant to oenologist Attili Pagli in 1999, she perfected her knowledge of winemaking processes through significant experiences in Australia and New Zealand: at the Richmond Grove winery in the Barossa district of Australia, in 2001 at the T’Gallant winery in the Mornington Peninsula of Australia, in 2002 as assistant winemaker to Alan Kennet at Castella Wine in Riviera (New South Wales), in 2005 at Rapaura Vintners Limited  in Blenheim in New Zealand, and in 2006 at the Harewood Estate in Western Australia. She served a term as professor of Oenology at the graduate course in Viticulture and Oenology of the faculty of Agrarian Sciences  of the University of Pisa.
Enrolled in the professional order of Technical Tasters of the Chambers of Commerce of the provinces of Grosseto, Livorno, and Pisa, she is currently president of the Tasting Commission n 1° for the DOC and DOCG wines of the province of Pisa. She has been a working member of the Appeals Commission for the VQPRD wines of central Italy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forest Sciences in Rome. She is an official technical consultant of the Tribunal of Grosseto (member n° 41). She has been a member of the zoning Commission which supervises the landscape of the townships of Scarlino and Follonica in the province of Grosseto.
She teaches for the principal Tuscan educational and training agencies (Enaip, Università dell’età libera, BIC Toscana, Sviluppo Italia Toscana, Doccini Service, Form@re ) and for the courses for sommeliers of the AIS, FISAR, and ONS organizations, treating subjects such as oenology; knowledge of territories, appellations, production codes, and grape varieties;  oenological technology; and oenological microbiology.
From 1998 to 2001 she was responsible for the laboratory of oenological-chemical, chemical-environmental, biological, and nutritional laboratory ”LABO 2000” at Venturina in the province of Livorno.
She has been  a member of Assoenologi, the official organization of Italian oenologists, since 2009.
